Clemintine

We almost lost one of our puppies early this past week. She had an allergic reaction to something and started wheezing. I picked her up and then noticed she was really struggling to take a breath and so called our vet. They said we would have to go to the emergency vet as they were closing up shop. So Dan quickly jumped in his truck with Clemintine and took off leaving me to pack up the other puppies and Oli and Jaz and follow him to the clinic. The second you walk through the vet doors you are charged $200. Within ten minutes our bill was an estimated $980!!! This covered everything they thought they would have to do like the different x-rays they had to take and different medications to put her on as well as oxygen therapy. She didn't look very good so they just kept plugging along and then told us they wanted to run other tests and possibly keep her for awhile none of which is covered in the estimated bill. We said we didn't have that kind of money and didn't know what to do. They said well you can pay or surrender the puppy. (This means let her die on the table). Of course I fell apart and started bawling as this is tough trying to save a life and trying to find the means to do so. Dan and I talked about it and asked if there was a payment option as we didn't have that kind of money and they said yes. Thankfully right after Clemintine started coming around. I went and put my face right up against hers and she opened her eyes and looked at me at licked my nose. I knew she would be ok at this point. We said no more tests just let her breath on her own for awhile to see if she is good. And she was so we were able to take her home and we just have to have children's allergy medicine around just on case she flairs up again. That's the story of our $1000 puppy Clemintine.

I'm sorry it cost you so much! But I am so proud of you for the good choice you made, although tough. I'm so glad she came around! :)
